Yiddish Summer Weimar

08 Sep 2016

01 - 06 AUG

The Yiddish Summer festival will feature more than 70 jam sessions, workshops, dances, sing-alongs and other events such as hands-on, mini-workshops in Yiddish language, music, dance, literature, cooking and much more.

This year, the festival week also features the premieres of two works created during Yiddish Summer 2016: Bobe Mayses, raucous, Yiddish puppet/street theater, and Gilgul, joyful contemporary Yiddish dance. (And if you’d like to be a performer in one of these pieces, please see the calls for participants for Bobe Mayses and Gilgul. We welcome your application!) Also a highlight of Yiddish Summer 2016: YHIP, the first conference to explore historically informed Yiddish performance practice, bringing together leading international artists and scholars: the public is invited!
